Micro 4v4 Soccer

Micro soccer is a development league that teaches positioning and game strategy. The program includes a weekly 20 minute practice followed by two games.

Players are randomly assigned to teams. Game scores are recorded and the schedule is manipulated to balance play as much as possible. Coaches/referees may participate in the games to minimize goal differentials but not to alter win/loss outcomes.

To teach positioning, we use an indoor (oversized tennis) ball for safety and to encourage short passes on the ground. At each end we will have two 6 foot nets making defending more challenging and to encourage thinking before shooting. As with futsal, the ball must be returned to play within 5 seconds to avoid penalty and encourage fast play.
